North of New Orleans

North of New Orleans brings the sound and spirit of old-school New Orleans jazz to Victoria. Featuring a group of local musicians on rhythm guitar, electric guitar, upright bass, and horns, the band draws from the deep well of traditional New Orleans music — early jazz, blues, swing, and the loose, infectious grooves that grew out of the Crescent City. The sound is lively, earthy, and built around ensemble playing: guitars keeping the rhythm moving, upright bass holding down the pulse, and horns weaving together melodies, riffs, and improvisation. North of New Orleans is a celebration of the joyful, unpolished energy of traditional New Orleans jazz — played by Victoria musicians who love the music and its history.
